Review Requests for WordPress
Review invitation e-mails that link to your free Trustpilot page, Google or Reviews.io. For HULO Payments customers, lists and WooCommerce orders.
Install on WordPress: download the zip and upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Once the free plugin is listed on WordPress.org you will also be able to install it from there.
Requires WordPress 6.5+ and PHP 8.1+. Works on any WordPress site; WooCommerce is optional and switches on the shop features.
Free plugin
What the free plugin does
HULO Review Requests asks your customers for a review by e-mail, in a way that works with the free Trustpilot plan. You do not need Trustpilot's paid automatic invitation service.
The review button links to Trustpilot's public "evaluate" page for your domain (https://www.trustpilot.com/evaluate/yourstore.com). Anyone can leave a review there, so the reviews you get are ordinary organic reviews. You can point the button at Google reviews, Reviews.io or any link you like instead.
Works on any WordPress site. With the HULO Payments plugin, every customer who pays is listed for an invitation. With WooCommerce it also invites from orders and can ask for product reviews.
What this plugin does
- Invite customers from a list. Paste names and e-mail addresses, or upload a CSV, and send up to 20 invitations at a time.
- Customers who paid. After a successful HULO Payments payment, the customer appears on the Customers tab, ready to invite (up to 20 at a time).
- WooCommerce orders (when WooCommerce is active). Use "Send review invitation" on any order, or the bulk action on the orders list (up to 20 orders per action). Ask for a store review, product reviews or both; each product links to the reviews section of its own page.
- Rules on every invitation. Opt-outs, exclusions, a per-customer cooldown and an hourly limit are applied, and each customer is invited only once for each payment, order or list.
- Review page set-up. Choose Trustpilot, Google (Place ID), Reviews.io or a custom link. The plugin builds the review link for you.
- Invitation e-mail. Edit the subject and HTML body with
{{firstName}},{{orderCode}},{{businessName}},{{reviewButton}}and other variables. See a live preview and send yourself a test. - One-click unsubscribe. Every e-mail has a signed unsubscribe link and RFC 8058
List-Unsubscribeheaders. The link opens a confirmation page, so mail scanners that prefetch links cannot unsubscribe anyone by accident. - Link click tracking. The review button goes through a signed redirect on your own site, which records the first click and forwards the customer to the review page.
- Overview and activity log. Invitations sent, review links clicked and click-through rate, skips, failures and opt-outs, plus a full log you can filter.
E-mail goes through your site's normal WordPress e-mail (wp_mail), so any SMTP plugin you already use applies. With WooCommerce, the plugin supports High-Performance Order Storage and the Cart and Checkout blocks.
Review Requests Pro
The free plugin sends invitations when you ask. The separate Pro add-on adds:
- Automatic sending: each customer is invited on their own, the set number of days after they pay (or their WooCommerce order is completed), with your rules, the cooldown, exclusions and opt-outs applied
- Scheduling for pasted lists (no limit of 20)
- Resend, overriding exclusions, the cooldown or a previous invitation (opt-outs are always honoured)
- Your live Trustpilot or Google star rating and review count in the e-mail
- Exclusions for staff, wholesale accounts and whole e-mail domains
- A weekly report e-mail
Pro comes with a 14-day evaluation and needs no card to start. See huloglobal.com/wordpress-plugins/review-requests.
Pro add-on
Review Requests Pro
Requires the free HULO Review Requests plugin. Works on any WordPress site; with WooCommerce it also invites from orders.
- Automatic sending. When a customer pays through HULO Payments (or, with WooCommerce, an order reaches your trigger status, Completed by default) a background job sends the invitation when it is due. Jobs run through Action Scheduler when it is available, and WP-Cron otherwise. An hourly sweep catches anything else, such as orders from before the plugin was installed, a shorter delay, or a licence that comes back after a pause. Rules (minimum value, cooldown, hourly limit), exclusions and opt-outs are checked again at send time, refunded or cancelled payments and orders are skipped, and each customer is claimed first, so they are never invited twice.
- Scheduled lists. Paste or upload a list of any length and have each customer invited after the delay, within the hourly limit.
- Resend from the order screen or the queue. It overrides exclusions, the cooldown and a previous invitation. Opt-outs are always honoured.
- Star-rating box. With a free Trustpilot API key (read-only) or a Google Maps key, the e-mail shows your live rating and review count. "Connect" finds your Trustpilot business unit.
- Exclusions. Exclude e-mail addresses or whole domains, using a customer search that covers WordPress users, HULO Payments customers, WooCommerce guest buyers and your lists.
- Weekly report every Monday, a set-up checklist and the licence banner.
Every install starts with a 14-day evaluation with every feature switched on, and no card is needed. After that, a licence keeps the Pro features. If the licence lapses, automatic sending pauses and nothing is deleted. Manual sending in the free plugin keeps working.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do I need WooCommerce?
No. The plugin works on any WordPress site, with a pasted or CSV list of customers and with customers who paid through the HULO Payments plugin. WooCommerce adds orders and product reviews.
Do I need a paid Trustpilot plan?
No. The review button links to Trustpilot's public review page for your domain, which is part of the free plan. Reviews left there are organic Service Reviews.
Can I use Google reviews instead?
Yes. Choose "Google reviews" and enter your Google Place ID. Reviews.io and custom links work the same way.
Does it send e-mails on its own?
No. The free plugin sends an invitation only when you ask: from the Customers tab, from an order, or with the orders bulk action (up to 20 per send). Automatic sending after each payment or order is in the Pro add-on.
Who is skipped?
Customers who unsubscribed, excluded addresses or domains, customers invited within the cooldown (120 days by default), refunded or cancelled payments and orders, and anyone already invited for the same payment or order. No more than the hourly limit (200 by default) goes out in any hour.
How does unsubscribing work?
Each e-mail carries a signed link to a confirmation page on your site, plus the one-click List-Unsubscribe headers that mail clients use. Customers who unsubscribe are never invited again. The unsubscribe endpoint is rate-limited.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Nothing is deleted unless you tick "Delete all Review Requests data" under Settings → Rules and advanced settings before uninstalling.
External services
Free plugin
This plugin does not contact any external service by itself.
The invitation e-mails contain links to the review platform you choose, for example Trustpilot (https://www.trustpilot.com/evaluate/<your domain>), Google (https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=<your Place ID>) or Reviews.io. Nothing is sent to those services by the plugin; your customer's browser opens the page only when they click the button. The click first goes through a redirect on your own site, which records that the link was clicked. Trustpilot terms and privacy: legal.trustpilot.com. Google: terms, privacy. Reviews.io: see reviews.io (terms and privacy policy linked in its footer).
Pro add-on
- HULO licence server (
https://elite.charity/licence): registers the evaluation, checks for revoked licences and sends a daily anonymous usage count (invitations sent, links clicked, skipped, failed, opt-outs). No customer data is sent. Buying a licence opens its checkout (https://elite.charity/licence/buy/wordpress-review-requests). Terms and privacy: huloglobal.com. - HULO updates (
https://huloglobal.com/wordpress-plugins/review-requests-pro/update.json): checks for a new version of this add-on. - Trustpilot API (
https://api.trustpilot.com): only when you add an API key. It sends your domain or business unit ID and your key to read your TrustScore and review count. Terms and privacy: legal.trustpilot.com. - Google Places API (
https://maps.googleapis.com): only when Google is your platform and you add a Maps key. It sends your Place ID and key to read your rating. Terms, privacy.
