This policy explains how you may refer to HULO Global Limited and its products, and what you may not do with our names, logos and other brand assets (“HULO Marks”). It forms part of the Website terms of use. If you want to do something this policy does not permit, email [email protected] and ask; we answer quickly and are usually happy to help.
1. The HULO Marks
The following are trade marks of HULO Global Limited, whether or not registered, in the United Kingdom and elsewhere:
- HULO, HULO GLOBAL and Hulo Global, and the “HG” monogram and logo;
- PayrollOS and HULO HR;
- the names of our commercial Vendure plugins and their logos, including Checkout Guard, Fraud Prevention, Geo Block, Email Tracking, Visitor Analytics, Review Requests and Quotations when used with the HULO name or in connection with e-commerce software;
- the look and feel of our websites, product interfaces, documentation and marketing materials, including distinctive colour combinations, layouts and iconography.
The absence of a name or logo from this list does not waive any rights we have in it. We also own the copyright in our logos and design assets, so they are protected by copyright as well as trade mark law.
2. What you may do without asking
You may make fair, referential use of the HULO Marks in plain text to identify our company or products truthfully, for example:
- “Built with HULO’s Checkout Guard plugin for Vendure.”
- “We integrated PayrollOS with our accounting system.”
- “Compatible with HULO Global’s Vendure plugins” (only where that is true).
- News reporting, reviews, commentary, comparisons and academic or educational references, provided they are accurate and not misleading.
When you do so:
- use the mark as an adjective followed by the generic product name where practical (the “PayrollOS service”, the “Checkout Guard plugin”), not as a verb or noun for a category;
- use our spelling and capitalisation (HULO Global, PayrollOS, Checkout Guard);
- do not make the HULO Mark the most prominent element of your page, product or material;
- include an attribution where reasonable: “HULO, PayrollOS and Checkout Guard are trade marks of HULO Global Limited.”
Licensed customers of our Vendure plugins may state that their store uses the relevant plugin and may display the plugin name in their admin interface as delivered. Customers who have purchased development services may say that HULO Global built or worked on their software, subject to any confidentiality terms in their contract.
3. What you must not do
Without our prior written permission you must not:
- use any HULO Mark, or anything confusingly similar, as part of your own company name, product name, service name, domain name, social-media handle, app name or trade mark;
- use our logos at all. Logo use is licensed case by case; text references do not need a licence, logos do;
- use HULO Marks in a way that states or implies that we sponsor, endorse, certify, approve or are affiliated with you, your products or your services, or that your goods or services are ours;
- use HULO Marks in connection with unlawful, defamatory, obscene or harmful content, or in a way that disparages HULO or its products;
- alter, animate, distort, abbreviate, translate, recolour or combine HULO Marks with other marks, words or designs;
- register or use domain names, keywords or metadata containing HULO Marks to divert traffic, or bid on HULO Marks as advertising keywords in a way that confuses users about the source of your advertisement;
- distribute, resell or repackage our software, documentation or licence keys under the HULO Marks or otherwise, except as the applicable licence expressly allows;
- use HULO Marks on merchandise, or in any way that suggests the item is official HULO merchandise.
4. Partners, resellers and integrators
We do not currently operate a partner, reseller or certification programme. Nobody may describe themselves as a HULO partner, HULO reseller, HULO certified, HULO approved or similar. If we launch such a programme it will have its own brand guidelines and written agreements, and only participants under those agreements may use the associated designations.
5. Third-party marks and our independence
Names of third-party products, platforms and companies that appear on our websites, in our documentation or in our software, including operating systems, office suites, e-commerce platforms, payment networks, hosting providers and browsers, are the trade marks of their respective owners and are used only to identify those products or to describe compatibility.
HULO Global Limited is an independent company. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any third-party trade mark owner referred to on our sites, and we make no claim to any relationship with such owners other than what we state expressly and in writing. If you believe any reference on our sites suggests otherwise, tell us and we will correct it.
6. Vendure
Vendure is the trade mark of its respective owner. Our plugins are independent products developed for the Vendure platform. Their names and our references to Vendure describe compatibility only and do not imply that the Vendure project or its maintainers endorse, sponsor or are affiliated with HULO Global Limited.
7. Open source and community use
Where we publish software under an open-source licence, that licence governs the code but does not grant rights to the HULO Marks. You may say that your project is “based on” or “derived from” our open-source software, provided you do not use the HULO Marks in the name of your fork or distribution and you make clear that your version is not ours.
8. Reporting misuse and counterfeit software
If you see a HULO Mark being misused, a website impersonating us, a phishing message using our branding, or software or licence keys being sold as ours by someone we do not supply, email [email protected] with the URL or a copy of the material. We investigate every report. Genuine licences for our Vendure plugins are issued only through huloglobal.com and our licence server; keys offered elsewhere are not ours and will not activate.
9. Requesting permission
To request a licence to use a logo, to use a HULO Mark in a way not covered above, or to ask whether a proposed use is acceptable, email [email protected] with a description of the use, mock-ups where available and the period for which you need it. Permission, where granted, is limited to the use described, is revocable, and does not transfer any ownership. We may ask you to change or stop a use at any time, and you agree to do so promptly.
10. Enforcement
We will take action to protect the HULO Marks where necessary, including notice-and-takedown requests to hosting providers, registrars and platforms, and legal proceedings. Nothing in this policy limits any rights we have under trade mark, passing-off, copyright or other laws, and we may change this policy at any time by updating this page.
